Zolani Mahola was the lead singer of the pan-African band Freshlyground for seventeen years and six albums.
The band, made up of musicians from South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe, mixes blues, kwela, jazz, indie rock and African folk. Their best-known collaboration was Waka Waka with Shakira in 2010. Mahola has shared stages with Stevie Wonder, Hugh Masekela, BB King and Johnny Clegg.
